Forsgate Country Club’s wedding expert, Director of Catering Kelley Toohey, Answers Three Common Questions Asked by Brides

Forsgate Country Club’s wedding expert, Director of Catering Kelley Toohey, Answers Three Common Questions Asked by Brides:

How much will the Wedding Cost?

Many reception sites break down their costs differently, and what may seem to be less expensive may wind up more costly once all of the figures are totaled.  Inquire what is included in the price and what additional fees might apply.  Some additional costs to ask about are ceremony fees, taxes, service charge, maitre d, wedding cake, flowers, linen, chair covers, set-up/breakdown of room and valet parking.  At Forsgate Country Club, our expert wedding staff makes sure that there are no last minute surprises for brides. We offer a complete breakdown of our services and strive to make our brides comfortable with the entire booking process.

How many guests will the room hold?

Ask your Catering Representative what the maximum number of guests can be in your venue.  Make sure your count is at least 50 guests under the maximum.  Your reception room should not be tight.  Find a venue where you will have flexibility with the number of tables, size of your dance floor and plenty of space for guests to move comfortably. At Forsgate, for example, our grand ballroom can easily be reconfigured to accommodate weddings that range in size from 50 to 500.

Can I have my wedding outside?

Always make sure indoor space is available in case of inclement weather!!!  I attended a very well planned outdoor wedding that was to be held in a lovely tent.  Unfortunately on the wedding day there were torrential downpours and the rain seeped under the tent. My shoes were soaked and the ground was a muddy mess. Always keep your guests’ comfort in mind.

If you are planning on an outdoor ceremony in the summer have your ushers give guests ice-cold bottles of water as they are seated.    When you picture your dream wedding make sure you take into consideration the roaring waves, rushing wind or local kids running around.  Look into renting a sound system so that you can ensure that all your guests can hear the festivities.

Being outside certainly adds a romantic beautiful touch to any wedding but my advice is to always have a backup plan just in case.

At the show you will be able to view first-hand wedding trends for 2012.  This year we are expecting to see:

More Brides Going Green
Choosing locally grown flowers, recycled paper for invitations and place cards, and creating centerpieces with repurposed items.

Ceremonies
Many couples are choosing to have their wedding ceremony outside of church.  Forsgate’s outside garden is the perfect place to create a romantic setting for your ceremony.

Photo Booths
In 2011 photo booths became popular.  While we expect them to remain in style, “back drops” are an emerging trend.

Midnight Snack
Many of our new couples are sending their guests off with Coffee to go cups, donut, bagel or cookies and a morning paper.

For over 80 years, the classic Forsgate Country Club has been privileged to share in the joy of thousands of couples as they celebrate their wedding day.  A Brides Choice Award winner as well as the recipient of five consecutive Wine Enthusiast Magazine Award of Distinction honors, Forsgate strives to make each wedding as unique as the bride and groom themselves.

We look forward to being the place where you begin your happily ever after.  Call (732) 521-0070 for more information or visit us at www.forsgatecc.com or on facebook.
